Question why does axel do this

I am a frist time owner of a german shepheard, axel is a year old now and he follows me from room to room and is always behind me, is this a good thing? Could it become a problem? We live in a 5th wheel and travel alot and he can see me in every room just by laying in the front room but still he just keeps following me.

I hope to live in a RV some day, oh I can't wait! Anyway try having 3 dogs follow you every where! If I stop short watch out there will be dog up my butt. I would be upset if my dogs didn't follow me everywhere. I would watch out for SA (separation anxiety). That maybe something you would want to work on, is he ok if you leave him in the camper and you go outside without him. I will tell my dogs "wait here" and go outside without them, they sit and wait without making any noise about it. Keep up on your training and exercise specially with a 1 yr old.

I once read " A German Shepherd is not the breed for you if you want to be alone". I have found this to be very true. Prepare to be loved to death, LOL!!
Welcome! (My pup's an Axel too )

There's a reason they're called velcro dogs.

Your time is not your own anymore. I can only go to the bathroom alone if I latch the door!

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, pee on it and walk away.

No kidding...I actually "claim my space" sometimes.
And, it's only bad when they follow you into the bathroom and bark at you.

"Hey!!! Look at me!!!" "Hey!!! Whatya doin'???!!!" etc.

I can relate...the usual response was "hey, no tailgating!"
