Thanks for all the input everyone! Im really glad that Otto plays nice. Ive actually never seen him be aggressive at all.
One time on a walk, a stray chihuahua came out of the bush behind us and ran right up to Otto. I tried my best to pull Otto away, but he was already in the Chihuahuas face. But to my surprise, Otto just went toward the Chihuahua and smelled him calmly.

it looks like normal play, and nice play to me.........
both my young gsd's play alot rougher than that, with alot of noise that goes along with it. any people watching my dogs that didn't know any better would think it was nasty....... i think your dog has very nice play skills....

Heres another video I would like input on if possible
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWNihHOvLaI Otto was playing with my friend's 3month old Golden Retriever. I'm a bit concerned about his neck grab in the middle of the video. Should I discourage this kind of behavior? I'm not sure if the young age of the golden pup is causing Otto to do this and dominate him. They played for about 30min straight and the puppy kept coming back for more. The neck grab just kind of startled me a bit. Heres another vid of them playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMzv7...eature=channel

I am also having some play issues with my dog...wish I had video like you do. I thought in all your videos your dog seems to be playing really nicely. The puppy doesn't seem bothered and your dog seemed to be really gentle.
With my dog and the young golden he played with there was a lot more growling and he is much more forceful when he runs at the other dog and then when they are playing....LOTS more growling and his excitement level seems to escalate to the point that I feel I need to break them up. I would love to have someone who knows more than me observe and give me some feedback...maybe I'll try to get some video.... anyway your dog Otto looks very cute and very sweet

When my dogs play there's a LOT more neck grabbing and chewing, diving on top of each other and rolling, play growling, and air snaps. Here's a sample:

It doesn't look bad to me. It just looks like they're playing. I guess it depends on the dog. There are some dogs I would not permit Glory to play that way with because I know it would escalate into a fight. I'm very aware of her body language, but I didn't see any "dominance" posture going on there, and it didn't look all that rough to me.
