In response to those that have said that you should get rid of your dog if you don't have the time...Normally I would be right there agreeing, but as I just came out of this same situation last year, I understand where you are coming from. The lack of time is temporary. Getting up early and going to bed late is not always possible when you are pregnant as you are already exhausted to begin with. I strongly recommend the food throwing thing. It worked wonders for me and Mandalay to get us through the last month of my pregnancy and first month of the baby being home. I also think the food cube or kong is a great suggestion. We have a plastic football that we can put treats in and Mandi had to move it around to figure out how to get them out. Another thing I did when I was pregnant (I am probably going to be yelled at here for this, but here goes...) in the house we lived in then we had hardwood floors. We also had an ottoman with wheels. I bought a long rope toy and I would have my DD sit on the ottoman and let Mandi play tug with the rope, but since she was on hardwood, she would end up pulling my DD. This tired her out, but she would bring whoever happened to be sitting on the ottoman the rope, so I cannot imagine she did not enjoy it. I also like the idea of enlisting the boy down the street to come walk and play with your dog.

is there anyone in your neighborhood who is good with dogs that you could hire to come and play with/exercise him 3 or 4 times a week? daily would be better but i'd think that 3-4 days would suffice if necessary. based on how my guy acts when he hasn't had enough exercise i'm pretty sure that would help, if not solve the problem completely.
