I can always tell when my dog is done going poop outside because she rubs her rear feet on the ground in that area. I heard that they have scent glands in their feet and this is her way of marking this territory. Does your GSD do this also?

And both of them scratch on the ground before they pee into it. That is funny to watch too. Scratch, sniff, pee.

haha Baya does it all the time, I have come to like it because that means shes done and i get to go back inside. It doesn't help that she always walks all around the yard while doing her business. I think the feet kicking is cute, she always looks so satisfied and starts barking when she does it too, kinda like shes announcing to the world that she is the best pooper

hmm, i always thought it was to cover up their pee/poo so that another dog can't mark over it. i may have come up with that on my own tho
![]() anywho - tilden does it, then he'll turn away from the pee/poo and toss dirt in the opposite direction. my cousins dog does it when he pee/poo's or just when he's frustrated... his specialty is kicking the dirt on you, and as you hop out of the way - he'll reposition himself to "follow" you with the dirt kicking. sooooo annoying!!!!!
