Default Warning about Jerky Treats

I don't feed them, but many people do. I just read another article this morning saying that the FDA wants vets and owners to let them know if a dog or cat becomes ill after consuming jerky treats.
Apparently, the illness is not linked to just one brand, but they do say many of them are made in China. They can't seem to pinpoint what is in the treats that is causing animals to become ill and some animals have died. From the way the article reads, there have been problems with jerky treats causing problems back to 2007. I'm sure others may see this article and can provide a link to it. I don't think I can from my phone. Just wanted everyone to be cautious.

I avoid "made in China" products the best I can. It's getting harder, but the minuite I see where it is made, I put the product back.

Foods sourced from china killed our first shop cat, I'm pretty sure anyways. We were oblivious to food/ingredients being brought in from china, not anymore, alway check the labels and even then they don't tell the whole story, sometimes you have to dig deeper. This forum is a big help with this. Sorry for all those people out there who are losing pets over this.

You really need to read all the information because sometimes products are processed in one country but the source of ingredients are from other countries. So china could be sending stuff to another country then it gets sent here in the USA.

Its really amazing that any dogs could get sick from products from China. If you asked the 600 or so pet owners if they ever heard of poison china products, Im sure 590 if answered honestly would be in the affirmative. I dont get it stupidity, laziness or lack of concern for there pets? Who knows.

The sad thing is how long has this been going on, at least a few years. My dogs do not need these products. Everytime I go to the store and I see something I want to get them I look and see made on china back on the shelf it goes.

What Carolyn said!

As to Made in China being obvious, it's not. Companies know that people are leery of the chinese products and they are working hard to cover their tracks.

Even the Vit./Min. mix added back into kibble (once all the natural nutrients are cooked out) to meet AAFCO's MINIMUM standard....comes from China...and mostly synthetic
