Default Gwinett County, GA 2 GSD NEED URGENT HELP (safe)

HI! I used to be a regular here, however I haven't been on in a while. There are two beautiful GSD's at a really bad shelter in Georgia. If anyone can help I am sure they would appreciate it. According to their yearly records last year they had 1,856 adoptions however they euthanized 4,128 animals

i will be calling about girl #2 tomorrow when the shelter opens. i have a potential adoptive home available, am known to rescues on this board, am totally transparent and able to provide references to anyone who works with me. if there's anyone in the area who could help me with temp test, pull and/or vet and transport (all expenses paid), please post. all interest and arrangements are subject to more info on the dog from the shelter or evaluator. i'd especially like to find someone who could go and evaluate.

just trying to get my ducks in a row, in case this girl would be a good fit for the potential forever home i have in mind. thanks so much.

hey foster mom, can we keep in touch about coordinating pulling help and transport, if it turns out that girl #2 has a good temperment and hopefully is (wishing on a star here, lol) hw-. if things didn't work out time wise, no harm done. would need and would provide further personal info and references. welcome to the board foster mom.

Do you know Carla with Canine Pet Rescue in Gwinnett?

She or one of her knowledgeable volunteers may be able to perform a temp test. They recently helped with the black female Inca.....

Hi jwilbanks, I remember you! Thanks for coming back to post these nice dogs - Gwinnett seems to get GSD's on a regular basis, and they don't always get a lot of time (shelter usually full.) Hoping for the best for these guys, thanks to those with offers of help

looks like these girls are taken care of. the young girl, #1, has been adopted. the older girl, #2, has an adoption hold on her. this info came directly from "monica" at the shelter.

Gwinnett shelter really tries to help dogs. The OP said it's a really bad shelter but they aren't. They do work with rescues. They have new facilities that are sanitary as well.

They actually checked around for a rescue to pull my Smitty dog because he had such a good temperament. So they helped save his life.

They get overwhelmed though and two things working against them, pet overpopulation is worse in the south PLUS they are near a major urban center. They get a lot of unwanted pitbulls too.

Just sayin' it's not always the shelter's fault if they have to euth a lot of dogs......

Thanks for setting the record straight - I have always heard negative things about Gwinnett, so it's good to know that these are far from the truth. I can always tell from the pics where dogs are - it is so CLEAN in the runs.....poster child for some of the other places we see here.
