thank you to all who want to help this boy. he looks worried. here's what i can share with you from my experience.

all who are pulling, transporting and helping the person who is actually going to take possession of him will want to read the thread here entitled "do you know where that dog is going?" please ask for complete names, addresses, and at least a vet reference from each other (unless you already all know each other). make sure you know, in as much as you CAN know on short notice, that where the dog is going is safe.

be prepared for anything and have a plan and a back-up plan. when you get a dog from a "facility" it's essentially christmas morning...you NEVER truly know what you're getting. also know that the dog will need decompression time, that is, time to adjust from the uncertainty of the shelter and to destress. no going to petsmart or dog parks or basically anywhere until you get a real good handle on the dog's personality. know that there are truly awful things going on out there for dogs, and when it's time to find him a home, spend the time it takes to get and check references, make sure people are who they say they are, do a "home visit" (and never call it a "home inspection", which really turns people off). rely on your intuition and if something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. those are things i can help you with, depending on the dog i can likely also help with a petfinder courtesy post.

right now, because of the severe shortage of foster homes and people able and willing to work with problem dogs, (as hard as this is for me to say), i'd probably pass on any dog with human or other animal aggression, and i would never rely on the facility employees to present an accurate picture of what you could expect from the dog.

anyone who would like further opinions or advice, pm me with a phone number and i would be glad to talk with you and offer any help i could to help you help this boy. thanks to all who've offered, michigan has a severe shortage of resources for these animals and the need is great.
