My cousin in Altus sent me the link to the poor boy today. His owner had to go into a nursing home. He is supposed to be good with people and other dogs. THIS IS A HIGH KILL, GASSING SHELTER. Someone please help this poor boy, he doesn't have much time. The Friends of Saving the PAWS of Altus group can help arrange transport.

When I see dogs ending up in shelters because their owners have to go into some sort of assisted living, it reminds me how important it is to make provision for them ahead of time - if that is possible. This poor guy looks scared and bewildered - not at all surprising considering where he has landed.

This shelter gasses weekly, there are rarely exceptions. Last I heard with the group was that they were requiring animals be speutered at their vet and fully vac'd, which is up to the adopter/rescue to finance. Their vet charges full standard clinic pricing for everything, just FYI.

I sent his info to the German Shepherd Rescue, INC coordinator, in northern Illinois, but I don't know if it will help or not. I've never worked with that rescue before, and they could be full.
