Minnesota, wow. I contacted the coordinator for the rescue I volunteer with here in North Texas and she told me he was in rescue, but I figured it was an Oklahoma rescue.

Almost none of those dogs stay in OK. They are transported on a mass transport all over the country splitting off in different states and their own transports to fosters and rescues and occasionally adopters.

Why don't they stay in OK? Is it normal for dogs to leave the state they are where rescued. Just curious, your statement makes it sound as though there is an urgency to get them out of the state.

There is an urgency - they are in a horrific situation and there's really no other shelters in the area to help. The dogs are all gassed once a week, the shelter fills up each week, so they keep having to gas everything (cats as well) every single week. There is at least one local rescue that tries to help but there is simply no way they can keep up.
I don't know if there is a ridiculous amount of overpopulation in OK or if there is just a huge underpopulation of rescues, but for whatever reason, most of these dogs and cats get transported to the midwest to approved rescues and/or adopters, simply because no one in OK steps up to help. |

Poor Buster still looks pretty down - but he's been uprooted and through a long transport, so it's understandable. Nice looking boy, will make some family a wonderful companion. Rather an odd amount for an adoption fee (usually rounded off)......
