Shelter facebook site says he's been adopted.! Hoping it's to a suitable home and it works out for him.

I hope so too. His aversion to other dogs will have to be properly managed, so I hope his new owner is willing to work with that.......if not he could end up back on that chain

Yes Susan! I worry about his future in the wrong hands...I don't know why the vet's office didn't go on and neuter him while he was there... esp with his dog aggression. And I'm SO hoping the shelter follows thru on checking to see if he's been neutered... he has " stud dog" written all over him for these back yard breeders around here! Hate it when a dog like him gets adopted thru the shelter... they don't do any reference checks on the adopters and send them off with nothing more than a contract saying the animal will be spayed/neutered in 30 days and they never follow up. They're great folks at the shelter and try their best to save animals, but like other counties around, they should do reference checks and home visits with dogs like GSDs. Oh well.... good thoughts going his way that he has a suitable home. No sence in worrying about him...not much I can change. Gee, maybe they would hire me to do reference checks and home visits on big dogs. lol

They couldn't afford you! (Just kidding - we'd all do it for free...) So many shelters don't vet the adopters, and I agree, there are certain breeds that should be followed up on. That's why I am conflicted in some respects - it's easy to get excited that a dog (or cat) has dodged the bullet, but I often wonder how many of them actually go on to a better life. Many do, but the rest? And there are worse things than death. As you say though, it doesn't do to angst over them - we can't check on them all, and we'd all be in the looney bin if we spent our lives constantly worrying about what if........
