Nova is a gorgeous 12 year old Shepherd who was transferred to us by Quinte Humane Society. She was dumped at the shelter when her owners were moving and she was understandably stressed out. Thankfully she is now in a loving foster home and she's doing very well while she awaits her perfect forever home!
Nova is still an active girl and loves to go for her walks! She walks nicely on leash and knows her basic commands (she likes to shake a paw too!). Nova gets along well with most other dogs, although she likes to be the boss for the most part. She would prefer a home without young children due to her age but she shows no aggression whatsoever. Looking for an older girl to share your life with? Nova's waiting for you! Please email us for more information or to request an application for Nova! Her adoption fee is just $250 which includes up to date vaccines, stool sample and deworming, senior wellness bloodwork and heartworm test, spay and microchip. And how far is this shelter from Detroit, MI? Depending on a few things I may be able to provide a retirement home for this beauty.

She is so beautiful!
I can't believe someone would have wanted to give her up, especially at that age. At least Nova is at a very good rescue now and being taken care of. I hope she finds a loving family and home to call her own!

On the other hand, I look after a Collie-Shep that had a lot of gray on her muzzle at 4 and my almost 7 yr old Newfoundland dog has a gray chin. My almost 10 yr old Chihuahua has no gray at all. I think it depends on genes. The teeth are generally how they decide how old a dog is, but that can be misleading as well. Touie had sparkly white teeth until the day she died at 14 and a half. Diet plays a huge factor when it comes to healthy teeth. Touie ate carrots all the time And always fed a high quality diet.
