Hi everyone,
For those of you who have been following Zephyr's progress on either of the two threads (I need a pep talk or advice... please help. Please don't judge. or Minneapolis, MN - Zephyr, Male, almost 9 weeks old - white GSD), I thought I'd give you an update on what's happening with him. Through ECHO we found him a home. There's a foster mom for ECHO in Alabama (remember I'm in Minnesota!) who's been dying for a white GSD puppy to adopt as her own. She's been waiting for one to come through the system for a while. Long story short, ECHO immediately contacted the woman in Alabama who jumped on the opportunity and set to work on getting him to her in his new home. ![]() I trust ECHO in finding him the right home, especially if it's with someone who fosters their other dogs from time to time. So basically, this morning my husband and I dropped Zeph off with a foster mom for ECHO here in Minnesota who will complete the first steps in getting him to Alabama. I've talked to Zeph's new mom on the phone and through email, and seen pictures of her pets and property. He's going to a really, really good home. She's extremely experienced with GSDs and is extremely excited to welcome Zephyr into his new home. I'm heart-broken, as you can imagine, but I can't think of a way this could have worked out better. He's going to be a very happy puppy. I'm going to miss him so much though... And as much as I want him to remember me, I don't want him to miss me. ![]() I just can't stop crying, but I know this is for the best. Thank you to everyone for the support and suggestions. Don't be surprised if you see me lurking around the forum from time to time, and expect to see me in a few years when my unborn babies become old enough for their first puppy. |

You did right by that puppy, I'm so proud of you! You made an extremely difficult yet mature decision and it was the best thing for all living things involved.
I firmly believe that the universe will reward you for this tough decision. Have fun with the twins when they come.

You did the right thing. You are going to have your hands full and more full for the next 18 years -- well, it will settle down in 5 or 6. I really like your attitude that you saved this particular puppy from a possibly less-than ideal placement and gave a tremendous gift to someone who has longed for such a pup. Puppies are a handful, juvenile dogs are an even bigger handful, babies are a handful, and TWINS are beyond a handful. I applaude your decision, bear no shame, and maybe you can even stay in touch with pix from time to time. Now exhale and focus on a stress-free rest of your pregnancy.

kudos to you Paige for unselfishly thinking of the pup's wellbeing in spite of your own wants to keep him....in the coming months as you have and raise the twins, you will validate your own decision and know in your heart that you made the best situation for both of you...

That is wonderful. My experiences with ECHO have been very positive.
Best wishes for you and your upcoming family. You can always come back and post pictures in the chat-room (hint!).

I am so happy you found a good home. I know your heart is breaking but it was the right thing to do, you are very unselfish! I am sure his new mom will stay in touch with you and you can see how he grows.
Good luck with the twins and please feel free to stick around. You can lean allot here that will help you when you decide to try again. I also believe you will be rewarded for what you have done.
