Wow, thanks doreenf - that would be awesome. Seems like an extra batch of seniors showing up in shelters recently...

She is in a foster home already and they just love her. She needs some training but I am so glad for her. I am approved to foster for LCAC so if they get any gsd I will be there.

Okay this makes me really sad, her foster home brought her back to the shelter, she has numerous mammery tumors, two vets felt they are not able to operate due to her age and that they are cancerous. When the foster told her kids(this is the story I am getting, but have a call into the foster now) that she was going to die they were hysterical she did not want to put her kids through this, she wanted a younger dog to foster. I am going to the shelter on Sunday(the director said she would meet me there) and bring Lady home. She is really sweet and deserves to be in a home that in her last days will love her. She had been thrown out by someone who was done breeding her. This is hard for me to do but she deserves better that the life she had. I know it will be hard for me. I will keep everyone informed. Please send good thoughts her way and she will have the best quality of life she can with me, and when the time comes I will be with her. She will not be alone.

She's a really sweet dog. I'm pleased that she will be comfortable with you in whatever time she has left. After all she's been through, she definitely deserves to know what love is; she will find that with you.

Thank you for taking her.

That is so kind of you Doreen, thank you - even if it's only for a short time, the kindness that you bestow on her will be all she will remember, living in the moment as dogs do..... she will give no thought to what went before. Please give that sweet Lady a big hug from me, and tell her she is special. You will both be in my thoughts......

"Lady", as she was called, was euthanized last night and is now running pain free.

She was not doing well in the shelter; was extremely stressed. Given that, and the fact that she had several inoperable tumors, it was thought that the kindess thing to do would be to humanely euthanize her.

Her "owners" never came looking for her and no body showed any interest in adopting her so that hard decision had to be made.
