Default Brent,AL-Young M-Small,rural, stifling hot shelter

Hi Mary Ann,
I was able to get to the shelter today and get pics of the GSD. He is young by the looks of his teeth and is underweight by my standards. Not more than two years old I'd guess. He walked on leash well, and got along with the other dog, a Lab who was on leash near him in the yard. He was not tested with cats, but Christina, the shelter vol. can do that on Sunday as well as get more info on him. This shelter is a small rural open intake with a very high euthinazia rate. He does not have long there as they only have room for 30 dogs/puppies. He is being kept in an unairconditioned open ended Butler type building and it is hot. There are fans on the floor, but the heat is stifling, even for a human.

Christina Skrobak will send you more information on Sunday, but getting his picture and age out, hopefully will be a start for him to get on the way to a new life. Thank you for posting him to your GSD contacts. Christina's email is cskrobak@gmail.com and her phone number is 205-410-1003. We do not know his hw status as this shelter does no vetting. He can be tested at the local vet of a cost of $15, but a volunteer will have to take him. We can get him neutered and vetted for around $100 if someone offers to help him.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to say, I must be a terrible judge of character!! This "potential adopter" from my job bought a Golden Retriever after work tonight, not letting me know. I'm sad, mad, and embarassed. I know rescue in Jacksonville will take him now, but my apologies to all who helped me. I usually don't apologize for other adults, but in this case, I am.
BEST OF LUCK TO THIS BEAUTIFUL BOY

Don't feel embarassed! You did everything you could to help this chap - people are duplicitous, and there's nothing you can do about that. Thank you for working hard on his behalf, at least he is going to be safe now.
