If you can help Lanz, please email shelter_dogs@yahoo.com He is available through appointment only. Lanz is located in Philadelphia, PA.
Please help us find a foster home for Lanz! Lanz is a well-adjusted humn-social GSD X that is already neutered. This one year old boy has all the charm you can ask for! His family won't be able to be mad at him for too long without him whinning, crying and kissing to make up. Like typical German Shepherds, Lanz can be a little mouthy when excited but he is not aggressive. He is reactive to other dogs, but does well in meets with them as long as they have manenrs. Lanz cannot live with cats. ![]() I believe he is at the PSPCA, I am waiting for an answer, but he was listed as urgent on another forum. |

I think this maybe a gs SE eval this weekend except his name was Loco. The info seems pretty much the same. I have attached pics in the email but don't know how to post them Loco, Is a neutered male about 9 months to a year old, needs about 10 lbs, coat is in good condition, he came in as a stray , He was deffinitely a yard dog his nails are filed down from being on concrete and he has that dog reaction at the fence with dogs going by not aggressive , more territorial with a insecure whinny bark ,he did have more of a aggressive bark when one high energy pitbull went by, but if the dogs were calm he wasn't as energetic with the fence fighting as time went by he did less & less, we did noticed he had a slight problem with his back left leg, like he has a slight acl problem , and a scare on his nose, which i'm willing to bet the leg & nose came from him escaping from his yard,, But he walked very well after a correction on the leash ,he had no negative reaction to checking his ears/ teeth/ stepping lightly on paw/ pulling tail, he does sit on command, He wasn't very affectionate he was ok with a pet or two and a belly rub, But when other dogs were around he was very aloof to us, unless we had a treat in hand, We did test him in the cat room and he jumped when the cat jumped at the cage door, & he recovered fast and barked and the cat never lunging but he didn't back off either , So i would not put in a home with cats, All & All he is a very nice dog , But because of the reaction to dogs (Not aggressive ) & the cats ,

If this is Loca (and it sounds like and looks like it is), he is at ACCT on Hunting Park Ave. I was one of the GSR-SP volunteers that evaluated him.
I really liked this guy. He was very whiny when he saw a dog in the distance and wanted to get over to it. He seemed to react to the hyper ones more, there were two very calm dogs that walked by the outside pen we were in and he did not react at all to them. He went nuts over the hyper ones but not in a bad way. Loca did come in with a beautiful bi-color female and they were in the same kennel for a bit but he started redirecting his frustrations of the passing dogs on her so he was moved. He is very intelligent... he climbed on a chair to see if he could open the gate and knew that the stainless bowls up high had water and kept trying to get them. He wasn't aggressive with other dogs but meets and greets would have to be handled carefully due to his energy and lack of manners. He really settled down when walked away from all the dogs and even rolled over for some belly rubs. Here are the pictures Alane mentioned. I also think I have video on my home computer that I could post later. ![]()
