Dear Friends of Petraits,

Magnum (Petraits attached) is an active, people-friendly and playful, 95-pound, four-year-old purebred German Shepherd Dog waiting for rescue at DuPage County Animal Care and Control in Wheaton, Illinois.

Magnum lived in a home where he was loved for the last four years. He is great with people, housebroken and non-destructive in the home.

Unfortunately Magnum’s human mom had surgery recently and is no longer strong enough to handle such a large, strong dog.

Because Magnum can be somewhat dog-reactive at times, he can not be adopted through the shelter.

Magnum is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies, distemper, bordatella, and heartworm-tested.

I e-mailed this page to our local GSD rescue here in Chicago.

I can't make any promises, of course, since we certainly haven't run out of GSDs in need of good homes.

But it never hurts to spread the word to as many folks as possible, I'm sure.

I received a message on Tuesday from our local GSD rescue (German Shepherd Rescue, Inc. - Home Page):

"We hope to have a home for Magnum in a day or two."

(Sandy, if I were you, I'd check directly with the rescue group for any updates or further information. All their contact information is on their website [the link listed above].)

Hello,
My name is Janet. I had to bring in Magnum to the shelter due to my surgery. I can't stop thinking about him & I hope that he is okay. If by chance his foster
or permanent family is around with any updates that would be great. Would love to
have him back with us (my son and me) and know that might not be possible, but
had to try. Thank you so much.

german shepherd rescue, inc., are the only people you could ask about what happened to magnum. i'm sure they will not give you information on his adoptive family but they might be willing to tell you if he is still living and safe with a family, just to ease your mind.
