Updated information on Storm - Sandy reports that she had him doing basic obedience commands in just minutes. He is very interested in being trained and wants to please someone terribly. When given a treat, he takes it very gently from her hand. He is a strong dog and would need to be walked by someone who was willing to let him know that they are in charge. A head collar or prong collar would also probably be helpful in at least the initial stages. He wants to please so badly and really needs an owner who is as smart as he.
We think that we know his breeder and are trying to contact him to let him know about Storm. His land line phone number is no longer in service, so he may have switched to a cellular phone. If this gentleman is his breeder, Storm comes from imported GSDs. This would also explain his high drive and potential for high level training. Anyone? Shannon |

What a pretty boy! Sounds like a wonderful fun intelligent dog to work with!! Fingers crossed he finds a good home with a job to do.. I know that shelter is VERY small and he doesn't sound like a dog for just anyone to take home who's never had a high energy gsd before or he'll end up right back in there again.

Storm has had two homes in his one year of life already. Your assessment is quite correct. He has been more dog than his two owners knew what to do with and how to channel appropriately.

Am I the only one that finds it to be a shame that a beautiful dog like this is going to be spaid??? I consider this to be a great smahefull waste of a wonderfull looking high drive dog. I would love to have him but I am currently looking for a matured intact male to breed to my smokey. Dissapointing.

Joshua,
I have a good idea of the bloodlines on this dog but only time would tell if he's truly breedworthy. Please don't take offense but I consider it far more of a shame that is dog is only about a year old, had already had two different homes after leaving the breeder as a puppy and is facing being PTS in the next few days. It's very sad a nice dog like that ending up this way because he was "too much dog" for the owners. Just a bad deal for the dog all around from day one. I'd much rather see him alive and neutered than the alternative . :-) |

Storm is still waiting for a committment. There is one local boarding kennel in the county (just one) and the owners are GSD owners themselves. He could go there to wait until transport, however, he would have to be vaccinated first. Hopefully, since he is just one year old and was a house pet, he got his puppy shots and would just need a kennel cough vaccination. The boarding is fifteen dollars per day and there is no rescue discount (been there, already asked). The owners have at least one imported GSD of their own and understand high drive/high intensity dogs.
Storm also is monorchid - just one descended testicle. Anyone willing to make a committment? Time is running out. Shannon |
