I am a vet tech and it sounds like the mother probably was already sick from another infection before the parvo, typically adult dogs to not get parvo and if they do they usually recover very quickly. I am so sorry to hear this my heart aches fir this dog and her puppies.

As a vet tech I would have to say the poor thing probably was never vaccinated this is a lesson in how important it is to vaccinate your adult dogs yearly, I don't know how many clients i have had to talk into vaccinating their adult dogs. another important vaccine is lymes disease.

Not to go off topic but even the vet teaching colleges now say that YEARLY vaccinations are NOT good, not necessary and can cause problems.

That's one of my pet peeves also... If Stacia had at least been given vaccinations early on as a pup (esp that all important 12-16 wk one) she would have most likely still have had some resisitance. I believe most vet schools have a 3 yr protocol in place for vaccinations with some exceptions. And isn't there some that believe vaccinations as a pup convey immunity for life (esp parvo)? She looked to be in pretty good condition overall, but, evidently her immune system was compromised. It's just so so sad to have this happen...

......and then there were three.

Two of the female pups (Aries and Gemini) were released from the vet yesterday and are now home with their foster mom and doing well.

Sadly, Carina (female) died last night. The male pup (Leo) is still at the vet and still holding his own although most definately not out of the woods....

My thoughts and prayers are with the foster family. I can not believe the pain they must be feeling after the events of the last few days.
I am glad the girls are home and hope the little boy pulls through.

Sincerely
