Adopt a German Shepherd Dog: Mango-URGENT: Petfinder

More About Mango-URGENT
Mango is a courtesy posting and is not a RBARI dog- please email k9training@rbari.org or send in our online application if you are interested in this dog. She is currently in a county shelter. Mango is a petite sable German Shepherd in desperate need of an experienced adult home or rescue to get her out of the shelter. She is sweet-natured but extremely stressed in the kennel environment and needs someone who knows her breed and can provide her the training, attention, exercise, and mental stimulation she craves. She was found as an emaciated stray and because she is so stressed she cannot gain weight in the shelter. Please contact us ASAP if you can help so we can put you in touch with the shelter handling her adoption. Thank you!

Mango-URGENT is up-to-date with routine shots and spayed/neutered.

Here's what the email response i received - sounds like a good dog. I'll call the shelter and ask for cat testing, and ask how long she's been there. This girl needs out before she goes completely kennel crazy.

"Thank you for your email. Mango is located at the Bergen County Animal Shelter in teterboro, nj. You can contact them at 201-229-4600 for more info. I believe they had contacted the local NJ GSD rescues already but none had space, not sure if any reps went to eval her or not but she did fine with her food test and eval at the shelter and was fine with 2 dogs they introduced her to. Don't think she was cat-tested. I don't believe she has shown any aggression toward anyone, but because of her stress level and being a stray with no background they wouldn't place her with young children. She was friendly toward me in the kennel and I was able to pet her (she didn't know me), no cage aggression, just pacing and wanting to get out of the kennel. You would have to ask the shelter more about her medical and if they have done any testing/deworming- I believe she is eating and going to the bathroom normally but just pacing nonstop and stressed. Thanks, hope you are able to help her!

I left a voicemail and emailed the shelter, am waiting for an answer. Here's the shelter's own PF listing:
Adopt a German Shepherd Dog: Mango: Petfinder

The pics show her very calm outside her kennel. Looks like a good dog.
Somebody docked her tail, oh my. Still a beautiful GSD.

Back to work here.

Another email from Stephanie, the volunteer:
"I passed your message along to the shelter staff and they can probably cat-test. I don't think the rescue coordinator is in today but should be tomorrow- let me know if they don't get back to you by the weekend..."

This dog is good with dogs and people already, cat testing is just icing on the cake and to broaden her options. Btw, my last rescued GSD, also a petite sable in need of groceries, was named 'Kiwi' by the shelter. FRUIT DOGS ROCK!!!! Here is about Feli/Kiwi:
Save A Dog, Inc. - an all-volunteer dog rescue organization located in Massachusetts
