I have to say that I may not be able to part with this one, folks! She is freakin' amazing - temperment wise, she is just a stunner and so smart - she knows sit, will give paw, down, stay, and has a great recall - she will do all of these things without treats and is consistent - someone definitely worked with her. I bathed her today and furminated her - she was great. She is a very confident female and her and my alpha female are not the best of friends quite, yet but luckily for me - they know I am the alpha so with supervision they have been fine. They had one small scrap, but I interjected and they both were reminded that I am boss and there is no scrapping needed. Vixey listens very, very well and is a real sweetheart. She sticks pretty close to me but not annoyingly so. She settles nicely in the house and lays at my feet while I am working. She also enjoys rawhides.
Medically, she is not so perfect - the sad part is that her previous owners did not take care of her - she is pretty underweight (although those pictures don't really show it) and has a clinical case of heartworms - the kennel cough they assumed she had is actually a presenting symptom of the heartworms which means treatment is prob going to be tough. We had chest xrays done today in order to distinguish between the supposed "kennel cough" and the hw. She also has dew claws in the back that we will most likely remove since they are joined by tissue only. She has a nasty case of whips and hooks... and also had a very hard mass on her back right foot - we had it aspirated today and luckily, we think it is just an old fracture that healed improperly, but will know for certain by Friday or early next week when we get results back. After I get her worm issue under control, I will start her on doxycycline to sterlize those heartworms before we start treatment. She also needs to be spayed. In any case, she was a great save - I adore her and may not be able to part with her... we have connected and there is just something about her. Thanks again, everyone :-) P.S. I call her "Vixey" for short and her name suits her very, very well due to her confident personality and stunning good looks!

We found out today that she also has an acute case of pneumonia - :-( poor girl! The worms and diarreah have started to subside w meds - we had to put her on a much stronger anitbiotic today and Dr will need to see her again in 10 days for another chest xray to make sure the mass (which they think is the pneumonia) is clearing up...
