Our local Humane Society is considering offering dog training classes at their facility. I am not sure how much buy-in they have right now.
So I was hoping you all here could help me get some information to take to the director. 1. Does your local humane society offer training classes? if not, do you think they should? 2. For a trainer using someone else's facility to teach classes, what would a fair-share agreement be? Any suggestions, comments, etc are appreciated.

The humane society closest to me doesn't offer classes but they're pretty sketchy anyways. Even if they did offer classes hardly anyone would go because their reputation is so bad.
There is a Humane Society about an hour away however that offers a huge variety of training classes and they are extremely popular!! It really fits in with their overall image however and they are a very trusted shelter in the area. I personally haven't had experience with their classes but for the average pet owner, they are a wonderful resource. As far as the money/business side goes, I don't really have the expertise to comment on whats fair. I would assume as long as both sides can cover their costs and make some money, it would be fair. This is their website if you wanted to take a look: Training & Behavior Center | www.boulderhumane.org Also, they really integrate their training program into their adoption programs as well, which helps them all around! |
