Searching for Trainer in Ohio

I just welcomed my 6wk old GSD home this past Monday. Her name is Braylee and I want to find a good trainer to begin classes so that her and my family are on the right track from the beginning. I live in Jackson county which is SE part of Ohio. Any tips, websites, or contact info is greatly appreciated!

Wow, only 6 weeks old? Where did you get her? It's actually illegal to sell a puppy prior to 8 weeks old in Ohio, as well as many other states.

In any case, you can try doing a trainer search on the Association of Pet Dog Trainers website for a good puppy class near you: Dog Trainer Search

If you click on "Training Textbook" at the top of the page there is a ton of training information, starting at puppyhood, and you can also get a free digital download of Dr. Ian Dunbar's (veterinary behaviorist and dog trainer) book After You Get Your Puppy - just click on the pdf link on the page above.

Thanks for the links and info. I guess I was not aware of the requirements of when you could sell a pet. I thought as long as they were weened, its all good? I purchased a Weimaraner from a different breeder at 7wks old a few years ago.

Again, thanks for the info, I look forward to all the discussions I'm sure I will have with all members of the GS forum. Very excited to have my shepherd and my two boys enjoy her as well.
