Question with puppy weight and food

First time poster, long time lurker. My wife and I purchased our puppy at 8 weeks old and he's now at the 6 month mark. We've been feeding him Iams large breed puppy food (unfortunately) and now after reading up quite a bit, we've decided to switch him up. He's currently around 73lbs, is this average for a male? At 9 weeks he was almost 20lbs with fully erect ears. He gets around 4 cups or so a day, 2 seperate feedings. He comes from west German working lines and his mom was large, his dad was slightly smaller than the mom. My other experience with GSDs was the females I raised with my family when I was younger. We've decided to go with Blue Buffalo large breed puppy, but at his zsize and weight should we switch up to adult? He's a pretty active pup and by no means over-weight or fat. I can feel the ribs at the bottom of his rib cage and backbone with nothing showing. Thanks!

73 lbs sounds big for only 6 months. If his frame is large, he may not be overweight though. Can you post pictures?
