I have finally sorted out the puppy's diarrhea from the food switch and we seem to be good on the Acana Lamb and Apple. My question is how much should I be feeding him. They give guidelines on the bag and they basically to double it for puppies which just seemed like a lot to me. I am feeding him twice a day per the vets suggestion but need some help on the amounts. He is 3 1/2 months. Thanks

I posted this in your previous thread, but in case you missed it I will repeat it here: the Acana formula you have chosen has a calcium level quite a bit higher than what is recommended for a growing large breed puppy. The Lamb and Apple formula has a calcium level of 2.2% and also has a calcium
hosphorus ratio far greater than the 1:1 ratio recommended for large breed puppies. The Duck and Bartlett Pear formula would be a far more appropriate choice for a GSD puppy. At 3 and 1/2 months I would be feeding three meals a day. Use the feeding suggestions on the bag as a starting point, possibly using the lowest amount suggested for your pups weight, and doubling it. If he has loose stool, leaves food in the bowl, or seems to be putting on too much weight then cut back. If he is licking the bowl and looking for more at each meal, while maintaining a lean physique then increase the amount a bit. |

when my dog was 3&1/2 months old he was fed 3 cups a day.
1 cup in the am, 1 cup noonish and 1 cup in the pm. i gave him a snack throughout the day. i counted his training treats as food intake.
