Maybe im making this more over complicated than it really is but....When I get my puppy I want to switch him from iams lbp to orijen lbp. What I know is that I should gradually switch from 75 old/ 25 new and 50/50 to 25/75 to 100. It's just the calculations that are messing me up. Iam lbp is 399.52 kcal/cup whereas orijen is 410kcal/cup
Orijen IamsŪ ProActive Health? Smart Puppy Large Breed How much should I feed and how slowly should I go. Pup will be 80lb by adult weight |

It is such a small difference in calories per cup, that I think it won't matter much! Good for you for wanted to switch to a better food for your pup!!

Yeah, it's only a difference of 10 kcal/cup, or about 30 kcal/day. I wouldn't worry about it.

Switch over feeding the same amount of Orijen that you're currently feeding of the Iams. Then make adjustments as necessary by looking at his body composition.

From the sounds of it, you don't have the puppy yet right?
If that is the case I would recommend NOT switching kibble right away. I would feed him EXACTLY like the breeder is for at least a week or longer. If you bring him home and he is a great eater from day 1, I would start the change after about a week. If he ISN'T a good eater, I would wait a bit longer.. Moving to a new strange home is stressful enough on a puppy without adding in the additional strain of different food.
