I was told by my vet to switch to adult food at 6 months for large breeds but the bag says one year (Acana Large Breed Puppy Food)? will switching my boy to Acana Large Breed now be better than keeping him on the puppy food?.

I never use puppy food
so I'd be with your vet with at least the 6 months thing.Just make sure you switch to a good adult food, not the Old Roy or Purina dog chow stuff.

I think the all life stages is a good idea. There are so many schools of thought. I know our vet and the vet from the rescue said to keep Sherman on puppy until at least 18 months....I planned on switching at 6 month. Now he is 8 months and I have hemmed and hawed trying to figure it out. He has one bag remaining of puppy and then I am biting the bullet and making the switch.

The Acana "Puppy Large Breed" and "Adult Large Breed" are essentially the same food.
I see no harm moving between those foods. If the dog is doing well on the current food, you might as well stay with the Large breed puppy until he is a year or so. |
