Beau is just now getting his 2nd bag of Fromm Gold LBP so we have a ways but I just put my adults on this and like it.
Fromm Family Foods - Four-Star Grain-Free Surf & Turf for cats I am thinking the numbers look pretty good to transition him over to as well. .......... One of the few grain frees that is not to high in minerals and ash. Or do you think maybe to high in protein for a growing intact male puppy?

I would ask about the GUARANTEED analysis or what the MAX calcium is. The website says "typical" analysis.
That said, I have a friend that fed that to her pup, she was happy with it and the pup did well on it.

If you want to feed a richer food like that 30/19, there are traditional kibbles with as little carbohydrate that cost less than half as much. The ingredients are clearly high quality, with ash of 6.5%. However the cost is a joke. $2.5lbs. God Bless the Fromm Family. "Typical Analysis" means its the average of several test runs. It is an accurate measurement. |

Thanks sable. Just not used to seeing " Typical". Most say "guaranteed".

Sorry for the wrong link I obviously meant the DOG food.
Most of what I have seen on calcium and potassium labeling is MIN and ash is not normally listed. I have found closer to $2.25 and it is expensive (but not as expensive as some other grain frees) but the calorie content is pretty high per cup and the digestibility seems good so far. I was just wondering if there was any reason not to feed the combination of ingredients to a growing puppy. I have the option of being stupid with my money. At least it is an American company with USDA American sourced foods. http://www.frommfamily.com/products-...f-and-turf.php I did call them and they said there is not a lot of variance on their ingredients The puppy is doing very well on the gold line.

I figured you just clicked the wrong link
so I was looking at the DOG food. I was reading somewhere that some folks feel it is better for a puppy to eat limited ingredients and add new things one at a time like you would do with a human baby. But I don't know at what age they recommend to "mix it up". I'm kinda of the feeling "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". How long does it take him to go thru a big of the LBP?

The food is high calories at 4400 per KG but very low by cup because 1 cup is only a little above 3 ounces. It is a light kibble. With this one make sure you adjust how much you feed because this is one of the lightest kibbles I have seen. If you want to pay that much more for potatoes then well thats fine but keep in mind starch is starch and frankly potatoes are the least healthy. If you look at cultures all over the world, the least healthy are the ones that eat a lot of potatoes, the healthiest by far rice and other whole grains. When the first outbreak of Solanine and other glycoalkaloid poisoning breaks out everyone will learn a lesson. I would save the money and stay with the Gold, good solid product.
