Default Can food cause redness in one ear only?

It's now week 2 of having my 8 month old on the Proplan Sensitive Skin and Stomach salmon food which she has done well on so far.

I have noticed that her one ear has some redness in it...about from the inner ear to about mid ear. It doesn't seem to bother her much and it's only one ear.

It might be a minor infection but I was wondering could food also cause this? Or if it was actually the food, it would happen to both ears?

Food allergies usually show up in the right ear.

However, it could be unrelated to food and she could have an infection or a foreign body in that ear only.

Is there a reason for this?

It is her right ear (left when we're looking at her).

I'll continue to monitor her as it seems like it comes and goes. I thought the Proplan SS was for sensitive skin / allergies as well so am a bit perplexed how this is happening...but it might be unrelated to the food.

My vet said it usually shows up in both ears if it's a food allergy. Where did you find out the right ear information? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm genuinely interested.

Dante always got the infection in only one ear, though it's been so long now I don't remember if it was right or left.
