Layla (4 mos. old) and Kasey (3?) are constantly raiding each others' crates (toy stealing). All is a competition in the house, but it neve gets nasty. Normally, I do separate them because it gets crazy. One gets a toy; the other has to try to take it. Layla destroys Kasey's toys...poor plastic bugs and things that have survived as his toys for a year now lose their eyeballs or their heads, and I run around picking up the pieces before she chokes on them.

Scout sits back (or hides) and watches the show (or not).

You all with multiple dogs -- Do yours do this? My others never did -- Every once in a while they might sniff around in each others' crates, but they weren't going in their to conduct a raid.

So I layed a few tracks this morning, and later headed out with the dog. She was doing very well, until she bolted off one and headed off to explore. Ughh, was my first reaction. As I walked up I see her standing over a twenty dollar bill. Now, I'm sure she was actually interested in the Mcdonalds wrapper that was she was sniffing next to it, but I like to think that she also wanted to point out the money. Now off to the pet store. I guess I should buy some treats since she is bringing in the dough.

Yesterday, I had picked up the water bowl in the house - to wash it out and refill it.... and had neglected to put it back down. Sadie (my four year old GSD) kept hanging by me - I knew she did not need to go out and told her to lie down. She went upstairs and came back down carrying a plastic cup that my husband had left on his night stand. She showed it to me and went into the kitchen. That is when I remembered that I had not put the water bowl down. I followed her to the kitchen and she was standing near the sink.... looking up at the bowl on the counter.
Okay... so Believe it or Not!! (But remember it is a GSD we're talking about!!)
Any other stories out there about these TOO Smart dogs??

The cool weather started coming in last night. Wolfie seems to have gone off the deep end since then! All week it's been hot and he's been docile. Last night, he ate one of my decorative starfish. This morning he has been crazy. He's been put in his crate for time out 3 times so far. Now he keeps sneaking up on the couch when he knows that's off limits. He pretends to be barking out the window at the people going to the beach, and jumps on the couch to see out the window. Like he's fooling me, he then lies down and makes himself at home! I kicked him off a few times. The last time, he ran as fast as he could around the house, plopped on the floor and fell asleep. Maybe he will nap for a while now, and give me a break.

First off, I'd like to start by saying I live in a nice neighborhood. A nice, well kept gated community. A very safe neighborhood.

However, it seems like walking Ozzy here is going to get us killed!

First there was the cat that kept trying to attack him, and then what happened tonight. Oh, with the cat; I saw him again tonight. It started to come up, Sania barked, and the cat was like, "Oh, screw that."

But I was crossing the street, and I hear this loud music and it's getting louder. So I basically tear Sania and Ozzy's heads off to rush them to the other side of the street. This truck comes FLYING around the corner, tires squealing, music BLARING. The speed limit in our neighborhood is 15. He was going at LEAST 35 - 40. I saw the house he pulled into; I'm thinking about leaving a note on his door.

But if I hadn't yanked them out of the street, we would have all gotten splattered by this truck.

Why are people so stupid!?

Yes, Austrian, not Australian.

I had Remy, my white shepherd at a local festival today, and a guy yells out to me over the music, "is that an Austrian Shepherds?!?", I wasn't sure if he said Australian or Austrian, so I walk closer and made him repeat it. Yup, I heard right, Austrian Shepherd. I told him, no he is a German Shepherd puppy.

He then "corrected" me, and said, "no, that's an Austrian Shepherd". I told him that I was pretty sure Remy was a German shepherd. Then he said, "Well, he may be originally from Germany, but he is an Austrian shepherd." So at this point, I'm thinking, maybe this guy is for real since I have heard of white shepherds being called Swiss Shepherds, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

That was until he began to explain to me that Austrian Shepherds are white, Belgian Shepherds are black, and German shepherds were "the normal". Ha!

I then told him that I own a Belgian Shepherd (really she is my parents dog), more specifically a Malinois. He said, "and she is black, right?" sounding very sure of himself. I told him, no, she is actually fawn/red with a black mask. He seemed very stumped, and said it was nice meeting me and we went along our merry way.

I decided not to tell him that there were 4 types of Belgian shepherds, and there was more than just the "normal" colored German Shepherd. I'm guessing by normal, he meant Black and Tan. I t hink his head might have exploded if he new the truth.

It was just so funny how he was telling me what MY dog was, and how sure he was of himself. He told me to look Austrian Shepherd up on the internet, so I just typed it in, and there is no reference to that breed.

It's always interesting taking a dog in a crowd of people, it was very entertaining today. Oh, and this was Remy's first large crowd (sidewalks were packed with all sorts of sounds, sights, and smells), and he was a hit with all the children. I was so proud of him!

All three of my dogs that have died have contacted me in a dream about a month after passing away. Its a very strange and surreal kind of dream that is like no other. You dont ever forget them.

I am always crying in my dream because I am so happy to see them and I keep calling them back to me and they leave; basically saying they are ok.

The first dog that passed was alone, the second dog that passed was with the first dog and the third dog that passed, well they were all together.

I always awake in tears after these dreams but Im so happy to have seen them. I only ever have one dream for each dog. I never have this kind of a dream about them ever again. This also happened with both my parents too.

Has anyone else had these type of experiences or did I fall of of my motorcycle too many times

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Ok, this may be long and I don't particularly come out looking like the normal person I pretend to be, but this cracked me up and I had to share.

So, to start I must tell that Willow and I like to play chase and hide/seek around the house sometimes. This evening I was in the far end of my bedroom dusting the TV stand and I turned around and saw Willow in the doorway and she was staring at me. So I stared at her and we started to do our little dance as to who was going to chase who. Anyway, I crouched down on my side of the bed and we were both eye level on different sides. Then I ducked down so she couldn't see me. As I was practically down on the floor I noticed that my other dog was underneath the bed. Well, since I was down there I was making conversation with Dallas. Now back to my game with Willow, I am still on the floor but I peaked around to see where Willow was. I didn't see her. Then I glanced up and SHE WAS STANDING ON THE BED STARING DOWN AT ME!

I yelled HOLY :censored: and fell back on my butt. She scared the bejeezus out of me!! I didn't even hear her jump up on the bed. Then I started laughing and I swear that Willow was laughing at me too. Goofy dog:wub:

I have a German Shepherd/Husky he is the most amazing dog ever. I can honestly say I do not believe I would be alive today if it was not for him. We lived way way in the country where Smokey and I grew up. There were several times when he saved me. Once I was hikeing through the miles and miles of woods alone while it was snowing and I fell asleep in a junk yard on something I don't remember what, but somehow Smokey found me buried under the snow and he drug me all the way home which I would saw was a good mile and a half. I was a long smaller then I was probably 7 and he was around 1 or 2.

He has saved me a couple times from being attacked by our neighbors pitbull. One time when I was living with my mom he saved me from being attacked by an Akita. I think I was around 13. We were taking a walk down a back road and Smokey was off his leash we were on our way back home and Smokey was walking ahead of me. I happen to look back and here was this huge Akita charging at me. I started running and yelled at Smokey to run and he started running and looked back at me and saw the Akita he took off toward the Akita as fast as he could and a fight broke out. I had no choice, but to try and hit the other dog with a stick to get him off of Smokey. The other dog stopped luckily, but I knew Smokey could handle it, because he was in a lot of fights with neighbors dogs that had attacked him when he was a pup. I didn't and don't encourage fighting, he just didn't get to socialize good with other dogs, which I will do with my new dog.

One other instance where Smokey saved me was when a man broke in and was going to do something to me, but somehow and I have NO CLUE how, but Smokey got into the house and attacked the man. I was yelling for help, but my father is an alcoholic and was passed out on the couch. Come to know my dad had let him in a few hours before I got home and then he passed out. I can't imagine how it would have ended without Smokey. I owe him everything! I would like to add that I have been socializing him very slow to dogs that I know that are very mellow and he has been doing great especially with puppies, but no dog parks for Smokey I am sad to say. I don't want to put another dog at risk, but he does like to be around other dogs now.

He is my savior!

I just love having a dog that is absolutely fearless (except for being in the tub...) A few weeks ago we were camping in foothills of Alberta, in a fairly remote location (no campground), my husband and his friend were out working on their bikes with Kokoda hanging out with them, when all of a sudden she bolted behind them; when they looked up they saw a good sized black bear high tailing it into the trees with Kokoda hot on its heels. Needless to say, they started yelling, which brought me outside. Her recall is generally excellent, but it is apparently not bear proof on the first try! A couple of shouts later, and a "where's your ball?" and she came flying back to the trailer with her head and tail high, obviously very pleased with herself!! When we went an looked at the tracks the bear had been about 75 feet away and coming directly towards the guys. Kokoda was more than a little annoyed that she had to spend so much of the rest of the weekend tied up or in the trailer though.

Kokoda after bear hunting...

You'll notice she is actually wearing a bear bell...not sure why the bear thought it would be a good idea to approach since they usually stay away, but it looked like a fairly young male from what was seen of him, so probably more curious than smart!

I was taking some pictures of the dogs this am, and I was shocked how old Ruger looks now. Some of you may have read about the health issues he had over the last year. He had Lyme disease, then he suddenly stopped eating. He went from 90 to 68 lbs. After countless tests, x-rays, ultrasounds, and treatments, we never really found out what the issue was. He was being treated for SIBO and the meds were making him sicker. So, I took matters into my own hands and played around with some diet changes. Fast forward. He eats well now and he has regained all the weight he lost. He'll sometimes have the spring back in his step, but not always yet. He's only 5 years old, but he sometimes looks like a 10 year old dog. At least he seems happy and comfortable now

It's truly amazing we found her. She is now almost 10 years old. 8 months after we moved into our new house, she dissapeared. She is an orange spayed female. Someone had called after she was missing for a couple of days, and RIGHT after I had posted flyers everywhere looking for her, telling me that they saw a "marmalade" cat dead on the side of the road, right next to my house. I never saw her body. 3 1/2 years later (I wasn't looking for her, I thought she had crossed the bridge even though I never wanted to believe it) I saw her on Craigs List. I picked her up Sunday. She is now getting very comfortable in her house again, seems to be healthy and starting to get into her old routine. She was abandoned for 10 months that we know of for sure, so her behaviours are altered but still a loving cat.

This is where I'm asking for help. Heidi, my GSD was brought into the house as a puppy (She's almost 4 now) and knew Raven (my cat) since Raven's departure I have also added a Cardigan Corgi named Penny, she's now 2 years old. Raven (the cat) never really liked Heidi very much, Penny as far as I know has never been around cats. I have kept the dogs outside since Sunday (Unusual for them, the always come in at night) so that Raven could get comfortable. She was so scared, and I wanted her to be able to find safe places to hide for when we introduced the dogs.

The dogs know she's here. They are overly excited about seeing a cat. Heidi barked what I think is frustration, jealousy, and excited last night and I've never heard that bark and frankly it scared me.

How do I introduce the dogs and the cat? There is no way I want to hold the cat while trying to introduce. Do I let the dogs in, on leashes and see what happens? Do I try this over and over again for a few days, and correct them if they get out of control? I'm afraid that Heidi is going to try to chase, and possibly hurt her, or get very hurt herself. Penny too. I'm scared:help:

I took Cisco for a long walk around the lake near my house yesterday. The lake was packed with people walking, jogging, cycling, etc., being the little social butterfly that he is, Cisco wanted to greet everyone!! I had a hard time walking and trying to keep him away from people. Out of all the people we came across, only TWO wanted to stop and pet him, everyone else was getting out of the way and giving us this weird look  even when Cisco's whole body was waddling the entire time out of excitement. :( My poor boy was probably wondering why no one wanted to say hello to him. :(

Niko got a bit confused this afternoon. I took him out for an early pee break since we had dentist appointments this afternoon and I needed to crate the pups while we were out. I took him to the "quick pee" spot near the front door (as opposed to the real potty spot where poops happen). He did a couple turns and then made as if to head down to the play area (also in the general vicinity of the real potty spot). I assumed he wanted to go play and told him, "No, go pee-pee."

He then did the poop squat, and I thought, oops he really has to poop and I should have let him go. Instead to my horror, he lets loose with a stream of pee that soaks his entire front half.

So, did he just get confused or what? He did have to poop too, BTW. Has any one else's dog made a mistake like that, or do I have to worry that he's got some crazy neurological disorder???:help:
