Default Pacific Northwest Herding Fun Day

Open to all ages of dog, all breeds of dog, all ability levels.
Come have a great day hanging out, watching dogs, herding, enjoying the agility course and large open field for playing and training with your dog.

Spectators are welcome, there is no charge for spectating, and you may use the open field and agility equipment.

Concessions will be available, so bring a few bucks for when you get hungry/thirsty.

Wow, this sounds great! I am seriously considering...Neko's sire and dam both have AHBA certification and we have been joking around about taking her to "Ewetopia" since she was a little pup (gotta love that name!) She certainly spends enough time practicing herding our cats.....

I would have loved to attend but work schedule conflicts. It sounds like a fun day.

It's a lot of fun.
No previous training required, just a good time with a bunch of dog people, and the dogs love it.

Yes it is. I think there are a few people bringing their kids. Mine may come with my hubby, but I am not sure yet. I will be working so I can't bring them myself.

Oh drat, of course I have to work! I would love to have Gunner take the Herding Instinct Test. Of course English Shepherds tend to herd a bit differently than their cousins, the Border Collies (upright style, loose eye, etc.) & don't always score well on tests designed for "specialist" breeds rather than "jack of all trades" type farm dogs. English Shepherds are good at learning by observing, maintaining the status quo and adjusting their style & the amount of force used according to what is necessary to get the job done.

The English Shepherd may or may not move unfamiliar stock into a pen with little or no previous training, but if your hog breaks through the fence when you're away from home & takes a few sows with him, he will herd that hog & his wives right back where they belong & make sure they stay there until you get home to fix the fence. They're all about maintaining order & routine.

It's absolutely a kid-friendly event.

Joe and Linda keep a large supply of kid's toys on-site. Dress the kids in play clothes, though, as they'll be digging in the dirt and wearing holes in their pants.
