Of course Gunner couldn't do it anyway, since he just got neutered a couple days ago & has to stay clean & dry for awhile yet. Maybe someday, though....
It would be interesting to find out just how much herding instinct & ability Gunner might have, as he's from working stock & most of his family members are well titled. Even though he's no longer part of the gene pool, I'm sure his breeder would be interested in how he measures up as a herding dog, as she breeds for working ability as well as structure, health & temperament. I would also like to learn more about herding, especially what NOT to do as a novice handler so I don't ruin my dog. Only thing is, I'm a little afraid that once I get a little taste of the herding thing, I could end up irrevocably hooked. I actually DREAMED about herding last night! Gunner was working sheep with another ES & a BC who was more experienced. Gunner kept splitting the flock, I was getting stressed, and the other dogs were looking very annoyed with him. Then a couple young steers ran wild-eyed through the flock with a cougar chasing them & the flock scattered. Gunner & the other ES attacked the cougar & mortally wounded it, then Gunner moved the steers out while the other two dogs collected the sheep. (Okay, so it all made sense until I woke up!) |

When you dream about the herding, that means you need to call out of work sick
and come to herding instead.

I signed Rumi up. This'll be entertaining as neither one of us has done this before.

Don't worry, mine hasn't either. I figure she will pass or she will get kicked out of the pen. Either way it should be fun! She you there!

It's an instinct test, not a training test, so no experience needed.
![]() It's a blast. I'm bringing my dog along for her third "test", because she and I have so much fun.
