Never heard of them - I'm in that area. Do you have a website?

What type of training are you looking for?

I've gone to this one to level 4

Tri-Mark Canine Services

Hear this one is very good

Campaign Dog Academy

Not dealt with this one

CRDogs - Dave Walker Credentials

my breeder said serveral of her clients have taken their dogs to this training. They are very expensive, don't know if it worth it as I've never talked to someone that went there.

I'm wondering if this is the one that I've had serveral people tell me about - not that they have had experience with them, but they have driven by and seen training exerecises being held outside in a field.

I'd be interested to learn more.

Never heard of it....do you have an owner/trainer's name? Personally, if that's the kind of trainer you are looking for in that area, I would recommend Dave Walker. Have seen him in action and worked with some K9 officers and their dogs he trained. Check out his website, has free ask the trainer sessions.

ADD: I would attend the facilities of whoever you are considering, meet the trainers, learn their philosophies, ask for references and be sure their methods agree with you. As for the cost, yes he is more and he is one of the few I would say is worth it. Have a friend with a Dobe that went to him, highly recommended by him.

John Kalbavsky is his name, sorry I didnt include that! He also does not have a website, and I think I may go with another trainer.

I want to work my dog, but first she needs to be trustworthy around other dogs and people. I'm thinking agility or sch, I'm going to get her evaluated and if they dont think she would do well in sch, I'll put her in agility. So I want a trainer that can get her to be a socialable happy doggy, and then go into the interesting stuff. (agility, sch, herding, whatever job my dog would do best in)

How old is your dog? I'm assuming by your comments that your dog is not trustworthy around other dogs and people?

I'm taking my dog to a behaviourist in Guelph who offers a good program in working with reactive and agressive dogs, and generally dogs with issues. She also offers obedience programs and is an owner of a GSD. Her facility has great puppy classes that allow for the puppies to play off leash.

My dog is not that bad, but we did have an incident which concerned me so I went this way. I'm pleased with the program thus far.

Shes 2.5 years old and I got her 5 weeks ago from a horrible situation. Shenzi has cigarette burns on her, and was clearly beaten by the husband of the family we got her from. When we first got her she would lunge at any dog or person that would come near, however in the weeks we have had her I have been able to stop the barking and lunging altogether. She hasnt barked at anyone(dog or person) for about a week now. She can play with other dogs, AFTER the inital meeting. She has no clue how to greet a dog, or a person for that matter. We are working on this.

So to answer your question no my dog is not completly trustworthy around other dogs or humans yet.(however she loves cats-go figure) However it is not my fault and I am working VERY HARD to fix her. I took her completely knowing her issues and am very capable of handling my dog, and having overcome hurdles and having her play with other dogs should be a testament to that.

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll check her out.

Sounds like you might be a little defensive! It didn't appear that the other responder was intending to critisize you or your actions with your dog! Just trying to ascertain what actually happened.

If I sound a little defensive I apologise. I belonged to another forum where members were routinely attacked over the simplest of things and only foresaw being attacked because my dog needs training and help. The other forum has alot of traffic, and lots of people quit the forum because of snarky and mean members. I'm sorry to have brought my anger of that forum over here, and Caledon may have only been asking a question.

I wasn't critizing your at all, after all you came on here looking for a trainer. Since I live in your area I wanted to pass on the names I found in my search, some of which I had experience with.

If you find out more about your original one let me know as I've had people tell me about that place, although they have not had any feedback besides seeing dogs train there.
