The IKC Cluster of Dog Shows is coming up in a few weeks! The IKC Show is one of the few benched AKC dog shows remaining-- in fact I've read that it is one of only three benched shows, one of the others being Westminster.
The cluster of shows is held at McCormick Place Chicago Feb. 26-28th. Friday the 26th is Blackhawk Kennel Club show which is not benched, and Saturday and Sunday are the IKC dog show. In addition to conformation, agility and obedience competitions there are demos including Purina's Performance Team, SAR, Drill team, working dogs; and of course tons of vendors and informational booths. Hours and admission info can be found here: http://www.ikcdogshow.com/ |

I've heard that it's a fun show especially if you are competing in more than one thing, but I hear that the parking and traffic is terrible. My dog isn't quite ready to compete in utility, but I'm thinking about going next year and enter him in obedience and agility.
Those benched shows make for a very long day. I know people that hire other people to sit with their dogs so they don't have to hang out all day.

Traffic is only bad if you go during the "peak" times (like in the morning when it first starts). As far as parking, they have a huge lot and overflow, and a trolley if you are parked too far to walk.
I will be going, probably on Sunday. |

If you are not familiar with Chicago traffic and live someplace else, traffic in Chicago is always terrible! LOL! I lived in Chicago for 40 years and the traffic drove me away. I moved to Seattle and they complained about their measly traffic problems. Ha! They don't know what bad traffic is!
I loved getting around Chicago in the summer on my bicycle. And if the traffic wasn't so bad, I'd think about driving up there for those shows.
