I'm not sure what kinds of things you are looking for but...

There are lots of neat places to take your puppy in the area for socializing.

City Island Park is a fun walk, so is St. Armands Circle. Lots of people coming now into season. Especially foreign tourists. Have some Ben and Jerry's with your pup and people watch!

There's a PetsMart in the Landings plaza.

Venice Ave is a nice walk with lots of restuarants with outdoor seating. While you're down there, there is also a really great offleash dog beach.

There are a number of "paw parks"

Humane Societys in the area are pretty active.

As far as clubs...Once again. It depends on what your want.
For AKC type stuff...
You've got the Venice Dog Club with their big show coming up...

Sarasota Dog Training Club

There's also the local magazine.

If you're interested in Schutzhund at all it can be a hike, although not too bad at about an hour to hour and a half. (The fourth phase of Shcutzhund-driving!) South there is a group training in Punta Gorda. North in PLant City is where we go.

So lucky you!! You're in a very dog friendly area!

Wow thanks for the tips and places. My dog, Edward is a sweetie, but he can be a little barky at the people around our condominium. I heard of this manatee country group training club online, I think I'm going to attend their seminar that is coming up in like 2 weeks and maybe get into some stuff with them =)

I'm gonna look into the things you posted. I live very near St. Armand's Circle, I've been afraid to take him there though cause I dunno how they'd react if he accidentally peed on the sidewalk! lol.
