I'm not sure what kinds of things you are looking for but...
There are lots of neat places to take your puppy in the area for socializing. City Island Park is a fun walk, so is St. Armands Circle. Lots of people coming now into season. Especially foreign tourists. Have some Ben and Jerry's with your pup and people watch! There's a PetsMart in the Landings plaza. Venice Ave is a nice walk with lots of restuarants with outdoor seating. While you're down there, there is also a really great offleash dog beach. There are a number of "paw parks" http://www.sarasotafl.org/article/hound-heaven/ Humane Societys in the area are pretty active. http://www.hssc.org/events.html http://www.suncoasthumane.org/pages/events.cfm As far as clubs...Once again. It depends on what your want. For AKC type stuff... You've got the Venice Dog Club with their big show coming up... http://www.venicedogclub.org/ Sarasota Dog Training Club http://sotcdogtraining.com/ There's also the local magazine. http://www.sarasotapet.com/ If you're interested in Schutzhund at all it can be a hike, although not too bad at about an hour to hour and a half. (The fourth phase of Shcutzhund-driving!) South there is a group training in Punta Gorda. North in PLant City is where we go. So lucky you!! You're in a very dog friendly area!

Wow thanks for the tips and places. My dog, Edward is a sweetie, but he can be a little barky at the people around our condominium. I heard of this manatee country group training club online, I think I'm going to attend their seminar that is coming up in like 2 weeks and maybe get into some stuff with them =)
I'm gonna look into the things you posted. I live very near St. Armand's Circle, I've been afraid to take him there though cause I dunno how they'd react if he accidentally peed on the sidewalk! lol. |
