GSD Club - Charlotte, NC

A while back there was a post about Charlotte, NC GSD Clubs… her Here e.

I have been calling around since early November to figure out what is going on, but really haven't gotten anywhere unfortunately.

So… me being the person I am… wanted to post something here to see if anybody else from the area would like to start a GSD Meet-Up Group. I am new to the area, so I would definitely need some recs for activites in the Greater Charlotte area from other people. I will consider volunteering myself to manage a website for us if there is enough interest. If anybody wants to help, send a reply or PM me. Thanks!

What sort of club are you looking for? For SchH, there are two USA clubs in the Charlotte area and one WDA club. http://www.germanshepherddog.com/

As far as just an obedience club, I doubt there is a GSD specific OB club, but I'm sure there are all breed OB/agility places to train.

I have a friend that lives in King, NC with 2 gsd's and she goes to hickory for ukc shows and soem others down there

Just looking for a general "I love my GSD Club." One where owners and dogs get together in one central place. I am thinking hikes, walks, dog play dates, parks, other local dog events. More casual than training - unless somebody wants to have training meet-ups too. I am not a trainer.

And FYI - the GSDCA point of contact for Charlotte was not helpful. She was a breeder of showlines and made it clear she didn't want SchH. dogs/training in the group. I talked with her 2 times and that took a TON of effort and having to go through the Raleigh Club. She didn't have working email, no site, no call backs as promised, etc. I even offered my services to design/manage a site and help with marketing tools for those interested (there are 60 people waiting on Meet-Up.com and a couple on here that I know are waiting for a GSD group to form in Charlotte). I am still waiting for my "after Christmas" call back.

I used to own a business and am a total Type A. I got tired of waiting, hence my post to see if there is anybody interested in a group.

I'm not affliated with the GSDCA club, but I have heard others say they've had similar experiences. What a shame.

Exactly this is what I would like too! A bunch of people learning from each other, dogs socializing with other dogs/humans, desenitizing our dogs to different places. Thats a great plan!

If you are looking for a great club with really friendly people both experienced and novice check us out. http://www.metrolinahundesport.com I have been training with them since it started and my puppy is coming a long great and everyone is so nice they are really a great group of people. It is a schutzhund club but the obedience is amazing.
