My wife had been looking at collars and leashes for IPO, but is still at a loss for what is best. Our pup is almost 16wks old and we plan On getting involved with the local club in the next week or two.

But first we need a collar and leash, preferably leather according to who she has talked to at the club. Are there any reliable/favorite websites out there for these things?

Personally I wouldn't spend a lot of money right off the bat, which is easy to do. You may find that IPO is not the thing for you and/ or your dog.
Start off with a nice flat collar and any good strong leash. It doesn't have to be leather because it will take some abuse. Just make sure it doesn't slip in your hands. We found a 15 ft leash that served us well with in many different situations.
You'll also want an inexpensive harness, but not the walking kind. There may be club members who can lend you one since pups outgrow them pretty quickly.

There are quite a few good working dog sites for equipment. But you can get a good inexpensive treat bag from Petco and I think that is where we got our 15 ft leash.

these are the top three but a google search will help you find much more

These will serve you well on and off the field.
You also want really comfortable shoes that can get wet and or muddy, good hats to keep sun off of your head, light weight comfortable long sleeve shirts and something to video the lessons. It is nice to be able to review at home.

many pups start off in something like this. Again, see if you can borrow one that another pup has already outgrown. Once full grown you might want to stay with this style or move to leather. Some people prefer an "agitation collar". But don't go getting that stuff right away. Like toddlers, borrow what you can and buy what you need. And then pay it forward to new members coming up behind you :smile2:
