I need to order a long line for protection and tracking. I have used a couple of the 1 1/2 nylon lines during protection but I just don't like the way they feel. What are you all using and where did you order from. I would like to order one this afternoon.
Thanks
there are synthetics - biothane, beata and a third "b" I can't remember.....I always had a stock of them and had them custom made but the harness maker that did mine passed away a few months ago I just learned. Just google the material and you will get a bunch of places that sell....elite K9 in Kentucky is one place...
I like Muffin Waldman's nylon lines for protection. I just bought a 1/4" biothane line for tracking for a trial line. I think a 3/8" line would be better for weight.
Kellie at High In Trial makes both kinds and they are good quality.
I have a 3/8 bio tracking line, 33', from Gun Dog Supply. I love it. I was sick to death of hauling around muddy, soggy, wet or frozen solid long lines. I got flourescent orange because it is hard to lose. I got one with no ring or loop on the end so he or other dogs can drag it without getting hung up. Drag it through slush and mud and whatever else and it is good as new
I like the 1/4 inch coated (with Biothane) rope by Palomine Lines for tracking. Nice and also very lightweight and non-slip/non-clog
and the RedLine K9 MaxTac Arrow Long Line .75 inch for protection by DogSport Gear
For tracking and protection I have been using a really light, cheap 15 ft nylon line about 1.5". It's good for tracking because it's so light but really annoying for protection. It gets all balled and tangled up easily and I'm always fumbling around with it, might not be so bad if it were a little thicker.
I just ordered a new biothane 3/8" thick 8ft line for protection from my trainer, got to try one out last weekend and liked it a lot. Not sure if my trainer is selling them to everyone or just the club but I could find out. They look well made and can get all different thickness, lengths, tons of colors to choose from, leather or biothane. They also have harnesses that look really nice. Let me know if you are interested.
Thanks. I already ordered one but I appreciate the offer.
