Default Fur Saving Collar?

I'm looking at getting a Fur Saver because it looks like it would be easier on Kaiju's ruff. He's had a flat nylon collar since he was a puppy, but I always notice when grooming him, he ends up with a bit of a matted ring around his neck where the collar sits. I take the collar off unless we are walking or out and about, but it just mats up quick.

Is there anything else I can look into that would be easier on the fur?

I've tried rolled leather collars on him, but it seems like they just get lost in the fur, so I'm not too interested in them...

Every time I check out older threads about fur savers, people are mostly saying the only reason they use them is because of the Schutzhund requirement for a metal chain collar. They're a bit better for the neck fur than a regular choke chain because the links are so big. Otherwise pretty much useless for training.

My boy has a fur saver yet it still rubs fur off around his neck. I am switching him back to a leather flat collar.

My Fursavers are for Schutzhund and SV shows. They still make a mark on the next and part the hair. Rolled leather is probably going to be the least likely to leave a mark. Also if you fit your collars a bit more loose, that helps. When my GSDs are wearing flat collars (usually Biothane), they're basically loose enough to pull over their heads.

Hmm, I think I'll let out his flat and see if that helps. I've also seen martingale rolled leather, but they're SO expensive! I'm trying to avoid the buckle that I see on all the rolled collars because it seems like his fur always gets twisted up in buckles...

Thanks for the advice!
