What crate to choose?

We have an 8 month old who is crate trained. Recently though, she will not stay in her crate. Yesterday she mangled the front of her crate so that it is now trash. We had a 36" wire crate, average durability (fits her well at 40 lbs). Can anyone recommend a crate? Or have you experienced this before?

Personally, I've always used plastic airline type crates and never had an issue. Currently have the XL size and trying to find a used Giant (48").

We were thinking about that, but wondering if it is easier to break out of than metal? And how big is your GS?

Right now he's 10 mos old and weighs around 85 lbs. (well, weighed 82 lbs at the vet's a month or two ago). I think it's harder for them to find a purchase in order to pull and tear. Mine has never tried to get out.
