Prong Collars

I've been looking into trying a prong collar with Jazz, and was wondering whether the brand made much of a difference. Over at Leerburg they have a nice package deal that includes a prong collar, a backup dominant dog collar, and a prong collar leash for a pretty good price. My only concern is the quality difference between a Leerburg prong collar and a name brand like a Herm Sprenger collar. If there is a huge difference in quality I don't mind spending the extra money for the Sprenger collar and buying the backup and leash separately, but it would be nice to buy the package and save some money if the quality is close or similar.

Any thoughts, advice or first hand experience would be helpful as I have no experience whatsoever with prongs.

Thanks in advance!

I have a Herm Sprenger prong collar and I love it! I went with the 2.5 mm. They're made in Germany.

I haven't used any other brand, but I know quite a few people who have bought the less expensive ones and every one of them has had the collar pop open. I don't know if it was the way they put it on or what; but I have never had mine pop open. It's smart to have a back up collar just in case.

I would think that Leerburg would want to sell a quality product. Maybe someone on here has one and can let you know what they think of it.

By the way, you have a gorgeous pup!

I myself have never used any brand other than a Herm Sprenger. I've looked at some others that were cheaper and they looked it. Nothing that I would want to use.

A friend of mine has a training facility and she recently brought to my attention some of the other styles now being offered by Herm Sprenger. I had no idea before that of these new ones now available.

I'm using a traditional model of the Herm Sprenger. I'm going to be getting the model with the quick release because on and off with the traditional collar is a PITA. At least for me it is.
