If you use a pinch collar....

If you use one, do you keep it on 24/7 or do you just put it on when "training"?

Pinch collars are to be used only when walking or training. It's not dangerous to leave it on for short periods, like in the car on the way to training, but there's no point in leaving it on all the time, and it could be uncomfortable for them. My dogs wear thin leather collars at home, just to hang tags from, and as a "handle" when needed.

I only have had them on when training. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to try to lay on your side with a pinch on.

Thanks everyone. I only put it in for walks and training but unwanted to make sure that was the right thing to do. I didn't know if by taking it off would let her think that she doesn't have to obey unless the collar is on.

I use it only when her leash is on. I'm trying to train her to walk the right way on her leash so she doesn't have to wear it at all.

Training only. We are weaning off of the pinch now. Most training now is done with a fur saver only.

Only when training.
Inside the dogs never wear a collar, in the yard they wear their regular flat collars. When training/walks we've used prongs if needed.
