Default Thunder shirt review

Was wondering if anyone has had any interaction positive or negative with the thunder shirts. My pup is very anxious and alert and was wondering if this would calm her down a little. Any reviews?

It does calm a nervous dog. I have an Akbash dog who is afraid of thunder, gunshots, etc. and used to run around in a frenzy. I put a Thundershirt on him and now he just hunkers down in a safe spot and pants. So it does work for some dogs.

I use them in my grooming shop as well, when I have to work on a dog who hates his feet touched or whatever.

Yes, I have had experience with the Thundershirt, and prefer the Anxiety Wrap, which is the original patented pressure wrap for dogs. The Anxiety Wrap provides more coverage, more maintained pressure and additional features that the Thundershirt does not.

I have used the Anxiety Wrap in my practice as a professional dog trainer and found it to be a quality product that provides consistent results.

The Anxiety Wrap consists of a lightweight, breathable material. I have even let my own dog wear hers swimming! If you're considering getting a pressure wrap, get the Anxiety Wrap!

But also, you need to know that there is no panacea for any behavioral condition, including anxiety. While the Anxiety Wrap alone may be effective in relieving anxiety in some dogs, I do not recommend any kind of treatment without concomitant behavior modification under the careful guidance of a qualified professional.

In my own practice I strongly encourage my clients to make an appointment with their veterinarian to rule out any medical causes for their dog's anxiety. I like to include a veterinarian as part of a team approach because it is important to consider medical causes for behavior problems and sometimes medication is required, usually for just a short term period in order for behavior modification to be effective. When I say behavior modification, I am talking about standard protocols to change the dog's emotional response to his environment. This is something you really need a training professional or veterinary behaviorist to help you with.

In addition to the Anxiety Wrap, I usually recommend Through A Dog's Ear music and other modalities, but my plan is always individualized to each dog and client. Hope this helps!
