Default Midwest SUV Crates

Who has them? How do you like them? How big is your dog?

We bought a Pilot today (YAY!) after finding a deal on a nice used one. It passed the "2 crate test"--2 36" crates with the second row up. However, it was a really tight fit so I want to buy at least one of the 21" x 36" x 26" Midwest SUV crates. I think two 21" ones would allow us to snug them together and lift them up enough to bulit a small storage platform. we need a small platform of some kind because it's angled...just a matter if it is enough to do storage under or not. On the other hand, one of our 23 x 36" ones is only 25" tall.

My concern, though, with the 21" is Medo's comfort for long days at training and travel. He tends to lay on his side with his legs sticking out. Elsa can do the 21" and she doesn't do long training days so much these days.

He is currently 64 pounds and is almost 8;5 monts. His height seems to be stopped/slowed down, but he is filling out. I"m guessing he will be a 75-80 pound male, tops (can only hope he stays nice and compact!).

Who else has these?

I"d love to get a custom Al one with storage built under. But, that pesky little price tag....both my dogs (especially Medo) aren't horrible in crates that I feel like I need to spend the money for something stronger.

Thanks for input!

I do not have those crates but I have an 80lb male and the standard 36 inch crate which is 3 inches wider is a bit cramped for all day (or night) long. ......though it works for transport.

I have the long and tall version of the 21inch wide Midwest crates (42"L x 21"W x 30"H). They are perfect for my girls, and for travel for the boys. I think too cramped for long periods.

I know I am late lol.. but Amazon has them, as does Carealotpets.com

I do, however, have the same problem. In the Explorer, I fit both crates with a drawer under the smaller one JUST FINE, but now that my dogs are larger, even my largest plastic is BARELY large enough for Cullen, and I can't fit ANYTHING next to it in my Caravan ;( I am supposed to be starting with our new protection/schutzhund trainer, and ... I can't figure out transport and can't afford those custom things!
