Wow, I've just looked at the leatherwork on The Wag : Luxury leather companion dog products and premium working dog equipment, and I'm very impressed.
The leather they're using is superb. J&E Sedgwicks is about 12 miles from us and the town of Walsall is renowned for leatherwork and saddlery, personally I wouldn't have any other leather for either dog or horse equipment because it's such high quality that when you compare any other leather to it you can tell the Sedgwicks hides straight away. The stitching looks very well done too, although my suspision is some of the items are machine stitched. Not a big deal if truth be known, but hand stitching is a craft and it makes for a nicer and more personable item. As for the prices, on a quick comparison taking exchange rates into account they're right on the money. Not expensive at all for the quality of the materials and finishing, it may look expensive compared to some handmade leather goods but personally I think they're charging extremely fair prices. If you want traditional looking high grade equipment I think you'd struggle to find many other companies putting so much thought and selectiveness into their materials and craftwork. Think 'Bentley'...... |
