A trainer I went to said my dogs prong collar is too loose. I agree but taking one link out of it makes it very snug and I lose 1 prong bringing me down to 7. I think she gas a small neck and measures just under 17" where the prong collar should fit.
Is 7 enough or should I buy smaller links (2.2 size). I more than likely have the 3.25 sized links. Forgot to add that it is a quick release not a buckle. |

I also have the quick release one and it does fit Ace a little snug right now but to add a link would make it too loose and hang down where it does not belong.

It should be snug. You should only be able to get 1 finger under the links. Having it too loose takes away from the correction since it takes more effort to get the collar to tighten.
My preference is the 2.25mm unless the neck is very large or there's a ton of hair. I noticed a difference right away with the amount of effort I needed when using the 2.25 vs 3.0. Use it fitted correctly right now with the links you have and if you see a loss in effectiveness, try the smaller links.
