Default Granite Gear Long Howl pack?

What do you think of the design? Specificly the way the harness is set up.

It would be nice to see a picture of it on a dog. It's hard to tell if the bags would be over the shoulders where the weight should be, or further along the back.

For that price I'd be looking at a Ruffwear pack. The Palisades has a separate harness and you can take the bags on and off while leaving the harness on. It retails for $125, but Arcata Pet has them for $93.49: http://www.arcatapet.com/sresult.cfm

I have Ruffwear Approach packs, and they're very well made and the fit is perfect.

I think It's a pretty new pack and can't find any picks with it on a dog. The front chest strap doesn't look adjustable which would make it hard to move the load up or back.

Yeah, I wouldn't like that. Have you considered the Palisades pack? This is the harness that comes with it: Web Master? Dog Harness ? Five Point Training and Lifting Harness - from Ruff Wear

It retails separately for $49.95, so with pack included for less than $95 (discounted), it's not a bad deal. And the Y strap at the chest is fully adjustable. I believe the Palisades comes with water bladders too, which is nice. I use Platypus backpacking bottles in my Approach packs.

I always recommend a non-restrictive harness style for dog packs. The style with a strap going across the dog's chest is not non-restrictive.
