Red face i need your help......

Ruger and I are in several training classes. 2 a week. In transporting him i am locking his leash in the car door. I have a Tahoe. I want to get him a crate of some sort for the car. I am looking at the soft ones, but wondering if he will eat it....what do you guys use in your vehicle to transport your dogs????? Please help with this. I thought of a wiire screen or whatever they are called between the back seat and hatch. I carrier my wheel chair behind my car on a lift so i have to load him on t he side door.....HELP....These things are so expensive i dont want to mess up. Thanks friends.

Are you closing the leash in the door attached to his collar or a harness? Because if you're just using his normal collar, it will probably do more harm than good when/if you get into a car accident. A harness with a 6" nylon clip through it, attached to a tightened in seatbeat works great. Otherwise, I use a wire crate.

Yeah, i am using a flat collar and shutting the door to shorten it so he wont climb in the front with me. I realize it isnt the safest way. Im gonna correct this today. sounds like a crate , but it would be nice if I could find a collapsable one. thanks DJE

If you can leave it in permenant I would use a good wire crate and zip tie it all the way around for rigidity. Fabric crates are nice for hotel rooms etc, but would be worthless in a wreck I would think. The barrier is striclty psychological. Very easy to break out of. In any kind of wreck dog would not be contained.

I have an Escalade which is the same body style as the tahoe, and I can sit my airline hard crate side ways behind the front seat, (with the rear seat laid down)
then I just open the side door for Frank to get in and out. I use this when I want to haul more then one dog.

I have a blazer LTZ, If I crate, I normally use a wire one, granted I have to lower one of the back seats cause it's a biggy, but I do like wire.

Last week took the girls to the vet, I wanted easy transport, so I used the van, and put the girlz in my soft sided crates...Well half way there, Mz Masi decided to start rocking and rolling the soft sided crate and flip it she did

I had to stop and re right it...I have loved all my soft sided crates for easy lifting and moving, but Masi is a powerhouse, and I can just see her busting thru it at some point..

I also like and have, the wire crate with TWO doors, so I can put it sideways for better fit..of course you should have no problem in a tahoe

Also I have one of those metal dividers...I put it behind my back seat if I choose, and she rides in the far back loose..
