That Clicker Thing

I think Shania has missed the point of clicker training.

Working on a completely pointless and stationary (for me) trick today she has decided that the clicker is a treat.

The trick was to jump up onto a box and sit. It was going very well. I was using my clicker hand as a target. Up, click, treat, sit, click, treat.

During the third round of commercials she would jump up and sit with just one prompt. Up, sit, click, treat.

Well, someone decided she didn't need to wait for her treat, she'd just happily take a bite out of the clicker. At least she avoided the meat that was attached to the clicker. I'd hate to have to explain to the doctor that I was clicker training the dog and she went and ruined the really nice stitching job he did back in May.
