Default Blue's Ear Journey

For nearly two years I obsessed over Blue's ears--his left ear was constantly up and down but more consistently down. But now I rarely even think about it and have come to just accept it. And we tried EVERYTHING during that two year period to get that crazy ear to come up! The funny thing is when we are out in public, people are just drawn to him--kids will come up and just bear hug him without warning and I think it is because Blue looks SO sweet with that floppy ear. Blue loves it of course and he always looks like he has a smile on him face. People will look right over our other german shepherd (a rescue named Lola with perfect ears!) and go straight for Blue. So-maybe it is a blessing to have the floppy ear (it does stand up on it's own for extended periods of time before flopping over). In our situation, it fits Blue to a "T"! Here are two recent pictures of one ear down and both ears up!

Either way, he's a beautiful boy. We're all different in our own way, aren't we?

He looks really cute. Someone should have told you though to stop stressing over the floppy ear early on. Usually ears are up by 6 mo, I've heard stories of 8 - 9 months, but certainly by 10 mo to a yr if the ears aren't up, they aren't going to go up. So that whole extra year or so past a yr old...not worth worrying about the ears anymore. They are what they are.

my other gsd she had one floppy ear all the time, i started adding glucosomine once she got older and it actually helped her floppy ear stand up straight more.. i think it gives character with a floppy ear

I can see why people are drawn to him. He looks like the kind of dog you could sit and talk to.
