Unhappy Could the other puppy be ruining my pups ears?

My GSD just turned eight weeks. We changed duty stations two weeks ago, and we're currently staying at a friends house. They have a puppy that is two weeks older than Diesel (our pup). This puppy is contantly trying to show dominance over Diesel by pinning him down and biting Diesels ears. A couple days after we got diesel, his ears started to arMs up. This was before the other dog started biting his ears. Now, his ears are floppy and don't feel as strong as before. Could this other dog be ruining my dogs ears?

It could be, but it can also be his age. Ears go up and down at that age until they're done teething.

If you're really that worried about it, don't allow the other puppy chew on your pups ears.

Well I don't allow the other dog to do it. Everytime I catch him, I take him into another room.
Thank you!

If he has strong ears they should be fine. Breeders often have litters of pups beyond 8 wks that roughhouse and their ears come up fine. Our trainer recently had a litter and one was held back, two were sold but kept in for training before going home, and another didn't sell till about 12 wks old. The pups had their alone time, but also were still allowed to play together for chunks of the day. I saw them wrestling all the time and all their ears came up beautifully.

It can be a problem if your puppy is more submissive by nature than the other puppy.
Sometimes, submissive puppies will "fold and pin their ears back" in a submissive posture, which can cause permanent creases in their ears....and therefore, have a harder time standing firm and fast on their own.
In most cases....ears will stand no matter what...but there are those cases, where it can become a problem.....especially in a puppy that may have "weaker" ears to begin with.
